Description

The organization of the Metropolitan Development Forum is part of the research 'The Metropolis and the Right to the City: knowledge, innovation and action for urban development' from the INCT 2015-2020 program (National Institute of Science and Technology, a brazilian governmental funding program to support research) 'Observatório das Metrópoles', and aims to promote the articulation between civil society, academia and public power. The event integrates one of the actions of the extension line of the mentioned research, being also articulated to the project of Extensions of Metropolitan Citizenship, coordinated by the Laboratory of Urban and Metropolitan Studies (Lab-Urb / UFMG). This year, the theme of the forum will be "The popular economy in the metropolitan context", and it will take place on November 09 and 10, being hosted at the School of Architecture of UFMG and the participation of the general public will be made at no charge. The choice of theme was due to the urgent need to reflect the actions, situations and scenarios of the urban popular economy and its intrinsic relation with the metropolis and the public space. The first day will have as sub-theme "Popular Economy and Metropolitan Politics in the RMBH" and will begin with a lecture by two researchers from the INCT Observatório das Metrópoles as well as a representative of the RMBH Nucleus and the School of Architecture coordination.
