This Month's Alumni Highlight: Maria Cecilia del Barrio Arleo
Cecilia obtained her PhD from the School of International Studies at the University of Trento in 2020. Her dissertation focuses on the transformation of banking supervision and supervisory practices in the Eurozone since the establishment of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). Her research lies at the interface of banking and financial regulation and social sciences, and she is currently focusing on financial technology topics including CBDCs.
Cecilia works at the European Central Bank, where she serves as a banking supervisor at the SSM and is also a member of the European Banking Institute’s Associate Researchers Group (EBI ARG). She is a former coordinator of YSI’s Finance, Law, and Economics working group.
