Description

The YSI Inequality and Development Working Groups happily announces a special session to be held during the 25th Annual Conference of the Association for Heterodox Economics (AHE). The joint session will focus on ''Rethinking Development in a Growingly Unequal World''. We invite young scholars (PhD and MSc students) to submit working papers for discussion. Selected participants will have the opportunity to present a paper and get feedback from a senior mentor in the area. They will also receive a partial travel allowance and accommodation in Cambridge/London.

Panel: Rethinking Development in a Growingly Unequal World

The world today is more unequal than ever before and the challenges of poverty and environmental degradation continue to persist. To tackle these challenges, it is crucial to rethink development approaches and strategies which are fit for the 21st century. To do so, the Young Scholars Working Groups on Economic Development and Inequality invite young scholars to present their research on rethinking development in a growingly unequal world at the 25th Annual Conference of the Association for Heterodox Economics. We welcome papers from postgraduate and early career researchers. The papers could explore, but are not limited to, the following themes:

Critiques of traditional development approaches and the need for alternative strategies.
Innovative approaches to addressing poverty and inequality, including social protection policies, participatory development, and community-based development.The linkages between inequality, climate change and environmental degradation and their implications for development.
