Description

Introduction

The economy is a complex evolving system, thus its analysis requires tools that can take into account all dimensions relevant to such a complex world. As young researchers, we often question how to take into account heterogeneity, interactions, non-linearities, path-dependency, tipping points to name a few. If that wasn't enough, reality keeps imposing to us the necessity to consider the real and financial sides of the economy in one fully integrated representation.
In this project, we will learn and discuss together a powerful and growing tool that can address the complexity of the economy: agent-based stock-flow consistent models. We will investigate what are the frontiers in macro Agent-Based Stock-Flow Consistent (AB-SFC) and discuss what are the bulk of skills required to become an autonomous scholar in this field.

About the workshop

The project is a partnership with the Seasonal School "HANDS-ON AB-SFC" offered by the Department of Economic and Social Sciences (DiSES), in collaboration with the department of Management (DiMA), of the Università Politecnica delle Marche. The selected participants will attend lectures presenting ABM-SFC techniques and literature. Each theoretical lecture will be followed by a laboratory in which the students will have the chance to work firsthand on codes supported by the lecturers of the school. The school will provide students with both the technical and methodological skills required to successfully develop and analyze simulation models in a research project, allowing them to use these tools in their research as part of their Ph.D., or
