Comprehensive Framework for Sustainability and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In continuation of the previous project titled, Sound Policy System, Sectoral Institutions, and Community Capability Management for Sustainability, organized online on 7th May, 2025, a new project is proposed by DN Gupta, member Sustainability WG.
The title of the new project is: Comprehensive Framework for Sustainability and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The need for a comprehensive framework is envisaged in light of the UN Sustainable Development Report 2024, which has underscored concerns about the status of SDGs, highlighting that only 16 percent of the SDG targets are on track to be met by 2030, with the remaining 84 percent showing poor progress. There are pressing policy, institutional, and community management issues that impact the outcomes. And these are required to be addressed in a systemic manner for the success at the ground level. The framework will attempt to cover principles, concepts, approaches, structures, systems, and processes for the public policy system, sectoral institutions, and engagement of community in order to realize the SDG targets, while recognizing the interconnectedness of economic, social, and environmental aspects
- Forum: In-person
- Proposed to organize at one of the following Universities:
- UNU-MERIT, The Netherlands
- UNU, Tokyo, Japan
- Proposed time (tentative): October, 2025 for three days.
For organizing the project, the organizing team would need 1-2 more members. The interested members may please indicate their choice to join the team.
The members are encouraged to send their suggestions for organizing the project and, subsequently, should consider joining the project upon finalization.
