What to expect today (Times in Eastern Time / New York)
9am — Perry Mehrling will deliver his opening keynote A Money View of Capitalism based on Sven Beckert’s book Capitalism: A Global History. Sven Beckert and Yakov Feygin will serve as a discussant.
10.30am — In the panel A Money View of the Past Year Iñaki Aldasoro, Izabella Kaminska, Brendan Greeley, and Katharina Pistor will explore the dramatic developments in global trade and financial markets, the future of the dollar as a key currency, the emergence of tokenization and stablecoin, and the consequences for monetary sovereignty around the world.
12.00pm — Steffen Murau, Mark Swilling and Friederike Reimer present the report The Transformation of South Africa’s Monetary Architecture (1983-2024).
1.30pm — Maria C. Schweinberger interviews Katharina Pistor on her recent book The Law of Capitalism and How to Transform It
2.45pm — 2025 Recap of the Money View and Money and Finance Reading Groups.
