On the occasion of International Economic Development Council (IEDC) annual conference we propose to hold a 3 days workshop for young scholars to share their varied experience on the theme “Housing, Sustainable Cities and Regional Economic Sustainability”. The workshop will be in-person and mainly focused on learning and career development paths for young scholars with interests in exploring the housing market dynamics, sustainable cities and the influence of local and regional economic sustainability in the face of challenges such as economic downturns, demographic shifts, and climate change. The proposed young scholars and emerging leaders workshop will provide an invaluable platform for young scholars, professional and emerging leaders and researchers to engage with the pressing challenges facing sustainable urban development and economic resilience. As cities grapple with the multifaceted impacts of economic volatility, shifting population dynamics, and the escalating climate crisis, a nuanced understanding of housing market dynamics and their interplay with local and regional economic sustainability is paramount. This workshop will foster interdisciplinary dialogue, encouraging youth to critically examine the intricate relationships between housing affordability, livability, and long-term economic viability. By cultivating a space for intellectual discourse and knowledge sharing, we can empower the next generation of scholars to develop innovative solutions that address the complex nexus of urbanization, economic stability, and environmental stewardship. Ultimately, this workshop will contribute to the development of robust frameworks that ensure the resilience and sustainability of our cities in the face of unprecedented global challenges.
