Economic history is a vital tool for understanding economics today. We study institutional, narrative, theoretical, and empirical research in macroeconomics, financial, and business history.

- Why some countries are so rich and others so poor?
- Why does inequality exist between countries and between individuals?
- Why do financial crises occur (such as the crash of ’29, the Great Depression, and the subprime crisis)?
- What consequences can economic crises have in the long term.
- How do institutions influence economic and social development?
