Economic history is a vital tool for understanding economics today. We study institutional, narrative, theoretical, and empirical research in macroeconomics, financial, and business history.

  • Financial Crises
  • Economic History as a multidisciplinary field encompassing economics, history, and social sciences.

Research Questions

  • Why some countries are so rich and others so poor?
  • Why does inequality exist between countries and between individuals?
  • Why do financial crises occur (such as the crash of ’29, the Great Depression, and the subprime crisis)?
  • What consequences can economic crises have in the long term.
  • How do institutions influence economic and social development?
