Description

This is the second of two sessions on the 1989 book A Market Theory of Money by John Hicks.

https://www.amazon.com/Capital-Wars-Rise-Global-Liquidity/dp/3030392902/

From the Description:

Sir John Hicks draws together the common threads of over 50 years' writing on monetary economics into a succint (sic) statement of the fundamentals of monetary theory. He also goes beyond this work of synthesis to outline a theory of competitive markets which can be linked to the monetary sector, confronting the failure of both standard classical and neoclassical theory to fill the gap between monetary and non-monetary economics.

This week, we discuss through the first seven chapters.

Chapter 8: Choice among Assets
Chapter 9: Theories of Interest Keynes versus Marshall
Chapter 10: Markets in Equities: Ownership and Control
Chapter 11: The Old Trade Cycle
Chapter 12: The Credit Economy: Wicksell
Chapter 13: Interest and Investment
Chapter 14: An International Economy
Chapter 15: What is Bad about Inflation?
