The Academic Department of Humanities of Universidad del PacÃfico (Peru) and the Young Scholars Initiative are pleased to announce the Workshop on Economic and Business History of the Global South, to be held in Lima, Peru on 27–29 April 2026. The organizing committee invites submissions of working papers employing a wide range of methodological approaches to the economic and business history of the Global South.
The workshop is designed to support early-career researchers (master’s and PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers within five years of completing their PhD) through feedback provided by experienced scholars across a range of institutions and research areas. Svante Prado (University of Gothenburg) and Beatriz RodrÃguez Satizábal (Universidad del PacÃfico) will deliver the keynote speeches.
The workshop will be hosted on the Universidad del PacÃfico campus in Lima. The submission deadline for extended abstracts (maximum 1000 words) is 28 February 2026. Submissions should be made via the application form. Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than 9 March 2026. To facilitate discussion, full papers (up to 8000 words) must be submitted to the organizing committee by 31 March 2026.
There is no submission or attendance fee. Accommodation and meals will be provided by the organizing committee, and a limited number of partial travel stipends will also be available.
