Description

We are glad to announce the fifth event of the Webinar Series in 18th-Century History of Political Economy.

Professor John Robertson will be talking about the relationship between Enlightenment and the idea of modernity. He will explore how the recent historiography has dealed with this relationship.

The Webinar is open to everyone interested in the topic.

We will circulate Prof. John Robertson's paper "Enlightenment and Modernity, Historians and Philosophers" among those interested before the webinar, so please confirm attendance through the YSI platform or through form to receive the paper.

Professor John Robertson was, between 2010 and 2018, Professor of the History of Political Thought at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge. He is the author of "The Case for the Enlightenment: Scotland and Naples 1680-1760" and several other articles on 18th Century History. He has also been a visiting professor in institutions such as the British School at Rome, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, Fudan University in Shanghai, and the University of St Andrews.
