In recent years, new methodological, theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches to the History of Economic Thought have been developed throughout the world. These include, as a non-exhaustive list, bibliometrics, gender and racial studies, analysis of university syllabuses, oral history, discourse analysis, insights on non-academic institutions, history of knowledge, and decolonization studies. The scopes and opportunities for young scholars around the globe have been spread, but most new techniques and insights have been developed either in and about the Global North or by disperse and not necessarily connected scholars in the Global South. This is particularly critical for young scholars based in Global South centers doing research on the History of Global South economic ideas. One of the reasons is that, although History of Economic Thought is usually a mandatory subject in any Economics syllabus, so that every Economics student is in touch with the discipline, the topics covered usually relate only to the ideas and theories by European and North American economists, and there is not much room for ideas and theories formulated locally or elsewhere in the South. This is the case in Latin America.

Intending to facilitate connections between colleagues who work on HET issues throughout Latin America, to encourage the diffusion of their works and theoretical, empirical, methodological, and interdisciplinary approaches and to contribute with the growth of the field, which the Latin American Association for the History of Economic Thought (ALAHPE) has been promoting, the Network of Argentine Economic Thought and Young Scholars Initiative, with the support of several local academic institutions, invite young scholars (Masters and PhD students, or scholars with recently-awarded PhDs) to participate in this workshop, which will take place at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Buenos Aires.
This workhshop intends to gather young and senior scholars working on Latin American HET, so that young scholars can present their work, receive productive feedback, and get in touch with colleagues working on similar topics. Besides, senior scholars are expected to comment on young scholars' ongoing projects.
A limited number of accommodation allowances is available upon request.

Nuevas perspectivas en la Historia del Pensamiento Económico Latinoamericano

En los últimos años se han puesto en práctica nuevas aproximaciones metodológicas, teóricas e interdisciplinarias en investigaciones sobre historia del pensamiento económico en todo el mundo. Estas incluyen, en un listado no exhaustivo, la bibliometría, estudios raciales y de género, análisis de currículas universitarias, historia oral, análisis de discursos, enfoques sobre instituciones no académicas, historia del conocimiento, estudios decoloniales, etc.
Las miradas y oportunidades para jóvenes investigadores/as se han expandido, pero muchas de las nuevas técnicas o perspectivas se han desarrollado desde y sobre el Norte Global o por investigadores/as dispersos/as y no necesariamente conectados/as entre sí en el Sur. Esto es particularmente crítico en el caso de jóvenes investigadores/as que trabajan desde el Sur e investigan acerca de las ideas económicas del Sur. Uno de los motivos es que, si bien la Historia del Pensamiento Económico es una materia obligatoria en la mayoría de los planes de estudio de Economía y, entonces, cualquier estudiante de Economía sabe de qué se trata la disciplina, los programas suelen basarse exclusivamente en ideas y teorías formuladas por economistas norteamericanos o europeos, sin demasiado lugar para aquellas formuladas localmente o en otros Sures. Este es el caso en América Latina.
Con el objetivo de facilitar los intercambios entre colegas que se dedican a la historia del pensamiento económico en la región latinoamericana, promover la difusión de sus trabajos y sus enfoques teóricos, empíricos, metodológicos e interdisciplinarios y contribuir con el crecimiento de la disciplina que en América Latina viene promoviendo la Asociación Latinoamericana de Historia del Pensamiento Económico (ALAHPE), es que la Red de Pensamiento Económico Argentino y Young Scholars Initiative, junto con el apoyo de distintas instituciones académicas locales, invitan a jóvenes investigadores/as a participar de este workshop, el cual tendrá lugar en la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Este encuentro pretende reunir jóvenes y no tan jóvenes investigadores/as especializados/as en la historia del pensamiento económico latinoamericano, para que los primeros puedan presentar sus investigaciones, recibir comentarios y entrar en contacto con colegas que tengan intereses académicos similares.
Se dispone de limitadas becas parciales de alojamiento para postulantes que lo soliciten.
