Description
The aim of this presentation is to have a preliminary discussion around the structural dynamics of prices and quantities in an era of smart technologies. On the one hand, accelerated automation has the potential of triggering economy-wide productivity spillovers but may be conducive to the upsurge of diffused technological unemployment. On the other hand, descentralised, atomistic data production by commodity consumers poses the challenge of how to monetise and/or value data streams within our system of national accounts, and the distributional consequences of such decisions. These processes are likely to lead to pervasive changes in the compositional structure of our economies, probably blurring traditional distinctions between sectors and factors of production.
