Description

WEBINAR REPLICATE REPLICATE: HOW YOU CAN TAKE PART
SESSION 13: Replications in agricultural economics

Oct 18th, 2023 – 9:20am Bogotá, CO; 10:20am New York, US; 3:20pm Lisbon, PT; 4:20pm Zürich, CH; 7:50pm New Dehli, IN

ABSTRACT
"In my presentation, I discuss the lack of replicability and the lack of replications in agricultural economics and policy studies, its causes and its implications. I present experiences and insights from editing the first special issue on replication in agricultural economics, which was published in Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy (Finger, Grebitus & Henningsen 2023, https://doi.org/10.1002/aepp.13386). This special issue consists of 11 articles that replicate various empirical analyses presented in published articles and advance the analyses that were used in the original work to provide further insights. I provide pathways on how to untap the potential of replications and provide guidance for enabling a stronger emphasis on replications in the field of agricultural economics. I also highlight why agricultural policy makers shall foster and use replications and how policy makers can enable increasing replicability and use of replications."
