Description

SOAS and UCL scholars are getting together to discuss the book “How Europe underdeveloped Africa” in Central London.

The book is an exploration of how European colonialism and exploitation shaped African economies. Rodney digs into the historical roots of underdevelopment, shedding light on the impact of the slave trade, colonial rule, and economic exploitation. The book challenges readers to rethink traditional narratives and consider the lasting consequences of historical injustices on the continent. It’s a read that prompts discussions on the legacies of imperialism and their relevance to contemporary challenges faced by African nations.

We will be focusing on the political economy implications of colonialism in Africa. We welcome all local scholars to join us every two weeks either at UCL or SOAS (check calendar).

Please apply in order to get further information related to the room and chapters to be read.
