Description

The real estate market is in centre of major events in the 21th Century: the 2007/2008 global financial crisis that emerged in the American housing market, and had widespread effects across globe, including the Euro zone crisis and a global wave of fiscal austerity; and the current global need for restructuring urban built environment and infrastructure to adapt to the climate change, guiding to strategies such Green New Deal. In this front, responses such as green land value tax and tax incentives for the adoption of blue and green infrastructure in new buildings requires sophisticated mass appraisals. In between these two major events, the COVID-19 pandemic led central banks to cut interest rates, which were expected to have effects on real estate prices, and families saw their needs for housing changing in the face of lockdowns, home-office and confinement experiences.

This two-days workshop will bring together senior experts and early-career researchers to explore key topics related to the study of real estate cycles, the attempts to boost Green New Deal in each country, and how to model and finance these initiatives.

The YSI Urban and Regional Economics, Financial Stability and Keynesian Economics Working Groups, in partnership with the Italian Society of Appraisal and Valuation (SIEV) invite Master’s and PhD Students and Early Career Researchers to apply for the Workshop: Building the Future: Navigating Real Estate Cycles and Green New Deal Strategies, a side event to be held before the SIEV 2025 Conference in Naples, Italy.
