SUMMARY:YSI Pre Conference: 67th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Italian Economic Association (SIE)
DESCRIPTION:YSI – SIE Pre-Conference 2026\nThe Italian Economic Association is organizing its 67th Annual Scientific Meeting in Cagliari. The SIE Annual Scientific Meeting is one of the largest and most important gatherings of the Italian academic economics community\, bringing together scholars from universities and research institutions across Italy and abroad. It provides a central space for presenting new research\, discussing current debates in economics\, and strengthening academic networks across different fields and generations of economists. \nThe YSI pre-conference will provide a space for young scholars to present work in progress and receive detailed feedback from peers and senior researchers. The event will include paper presentations by selected young scholars\, comments from peers and invited discussants\, and open discussion. Participants will also be encouraged to attend the main conference\, where they will be able to engage with the broader conference program\, participate in academic sessions\, and connect with researchers and institutions active in the Italian economics community. \nYSI will provide with funding to cover travel (within the region) and accommodation for selected participants\, while SIE has supported the initiative by offering conference fee waivers. \nThis year’s pre-conference will focus on themes related to technology\, industrial transformation\, international trade\, and industrial policy. SUMMARY:YSI Africa WG @ the 19th AEHN Meeting 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Young Scholars Initiative (YSI) Africa Working Group (AWG) in partnership with the African Economic History Network (AEHN) presents the 2026 pre-conference for the AEHN 19th Annual meeting.  This year’s conference is hosted in collaboration with Unit of Economic History at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Participants accepted for the YSI pre-conference will therefore\, have an opportunity to attend and present their papers at the main conference to be held from the 23rd to the 24th of October. \nThe YSI\, AWG invites applications from participants working on any topic on the economic history of Africa from the colonial period to present. The papers can cover the subject area from a methodological\, theoretical or historiographical perspective. This year’s pre-conference seeks to foster discussion on how the research\, writing and historiography of on economic history of African has transitioned over time. Hence papers that demonstrate evidence of thorough field research and evaluation of sources will be given first preference. \nIn bid to limit logistical challenges\, this year\, we will only accept papers from scholars based in Europe. This is an opportunity for them to meet\, present and share ideas. Unlike last year’s preconference which focused mainly on mentorship\, this year\, the working group is focusing on bringing young scholars based in Europe working the economic history of Africa to form study networks and groups that will continue to thrive even after the pre-conference. Selected participants will also exchange their papers before the pre-conference and will give extensive feedback during the conference. \n  \nInterested participants should submit their abstracts\, via the application form\, not later than 31st of August. The abstract should include the following: \n\nName\nTitle\nContact details\nAffiliation\n\nThe abstract should not exceed 300 words.

DESCRIPTION:This three-day professional gathering will bring together municipal and regional representatives\, institutional actors\, digital infrastructure providers\, researchers and monetary innovators from across Europe to explore one central question: How can new monetary infrastructures strengthen territorial resilience and public innovation? \nThousands of complementary currency projects are active worldwide today. Yet most policymakers have never heard of them.\nThe systems that could make local economies more resilient\, reduce inequality and give territories genuine monetary sovereignty exist; and they work. The problem is not innovation. It is connection\, recognition\, and scale. \nThat is why MDG II exists. \nThe monetary landscape is changing. Are you part of it?\nFor decades\, monetary innovation has developed in parallel worlds: academic research that rarely reaches practitioners\, community experiments that struggle to connect with institutions\, and policy discussions that ignore what already works on the ground. \nThe result?
