DESCRIPTION:The Academic Department of Humanities of Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) and the Young Scholars Initiative are pleased to announce the Workshop on Economic and Business History of the Global South\, to be held in Lima\, Peru on 27–29 April 2026. The organizing committee invites submissions of working papers employing a wide range of methodological approaches to the economic and business history of the Global South. \nThe workshop is designed to support early-career researchers (master’s and PhD students\, and postdoctoral researchers within five years of completing their PhD) through feedback provided by experienced scholars across a range of institutions and research areas. Svante Prado (University of Gothenburg) and Beatriz Rodríguez Satizábal (Universidad del Pacífico) will deliver the keynote speeches. \nThe workshop will be hosted on the Universidad del Pacífico campus in Lima. The submission deadline for extended abstracts (maximum 1000 words) is 28 February 2026. Submissions should be made via the application form. Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than 9 March 2026. To facilitate discussion\, full papers (up to 8000 words) must be submitted to the organizing committee by 31 March 2026. \nThere is no submission or attendance fee. DESCRIPTION:Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of the 21st century. The transition to a more sustainable economy has far-reaching consequences\, inspiring research that spans the natural and social sciences. From technological innovation to the institutional and policy frameworks that shape economic development\, the socio-ecological transition raises fundamental questions for researchers seeking to understand how economies can adapt to environmental constraints. \nEconomic research plays a central role in this effort. Theoretical and empirical models provide essential tools for analyzing the interconnections between the macroeconomy\, finance\, trade\, and the environment. They also shed light on the policies and structural changes required to make the green transition effective\, equitable\, and resilient. \nThe aim of this workshop is to foster exchange among PhD students and early-career scholars whose research addresses these themes. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from senior academics working at the intersection of economics and sustainability. DESCRIPTION:The subject matter of Economics has been undergoing rapid change during the last two decades with the advent of new technologies and new methods of production and distribution. Several economies have embarked on new paradigms in their approach to improve the welfare of their people.  Of which\, the theoretical underpinnings are continuously being re-examined and re-tested to investigate its validity in a changing global environment. At this juncture it is imperative to have a common dialogue among young minds for rethinking approaches to development. \nFollowing a successful inaugural Meeting of Young Minds in 2024 and 2025\, the Third annual Meeting of Young Minds on April 09 2026 to April 11 2026 is geared to be an exciting and engaging gathering of future leaders in the field of economics. \n\n\nThe following themes will be discussed:\n  \n\nDevelopment Economics (Health Economics\, Labour Economics and Gender\, Governance and Public Policy\, Economics of Education)\nEnergy and Environment (Agriculture and Sustainability)\nFinancial Economics and Corporate Governance\nMicroeconomics (Behavioural and Experimental Economics)\nMacroeconomics and International Trade\nApplication of AI and ML in Economic Analysis\n\nNote that papers in the theme can also be an intersection with any of the above areas. \n  \nFormat:\nThe event will consist of a Plenary Session with renowned senior scholars\, followed by sessions for young scholar presentations. For the parallel sessions\, all the papers will be refereed before being accepted for presentation. Additionally\, case studies from some of the sub-themes of the event will be considered in Panel discussions. DESCRIPTION:The hosting of COP-30 in Belém in November 2025 represents a historic moment for the Pan-Amazon. However\, the challenges facing the region extend far beyond global climate negotiations. This Young Scholars Initiative (YSI) workshop aims to bring together young researchers to debate concrete pathways of climate justice and sociobiodiversity financing as sustainable development strategies. Selected papers will be published in a book or special issue of an academic journal. \nObjectives \n\nArticulate critical perspectives on climate justice and sociobiodiversity in the Amazon\nPromote dialogue among young researchers from the Amazon region\nProduce applied knowledge for post-COP public policies\n\nThematic Areas \nAxis 1: Climate Justice and Intersectionalities: This axis addresses the dimensions of race\, gender\, and class in Amazonian climate policies from the perspective of traditional territorial knowledge. We seek contributions analyzing how indigenous\, quilombola\, riverine\, and peripheral communities are differentially affected by climate change\, exploring distributive conflicts and participation in decision-making processes. \nAxis 2: Financing Sociobiodiversity: This axis examines financial mechanisms for valuing Amazonian sociobiodiversity.
