YSI Workshop on “Knowledge, Innovation and Regional Development”

The YSI Urban and Regional Economics Working Group, in partnership with the Department of Economics of the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil) is glad to announce its I Workshop on "Knowledge, Innovation and Regional Development". The workshop is going to be held as a side-event with the VIII Seminar on Development and Policy (Seminário de Desenvolvimento e Políticas Públicas) in October 26-27, 2020.

Due to the Pandemics, the in-person activity was cancelled and the workshop will be held as an online event. Then, the submission deadline was postponed for August 27 (see more details above).

The general purpose of the event is to discuss Knowledge-Based Regional Policies focused on structural change and local economic development in Latin American context. Thus, the workshop aims to bring high quality young scholars to present their research on Economics of Innovation and Regional Development, Geography of Innovation or Regional Innovation Systems. We are particularly interested in the following topics:

• Universities and Regional Development
• University-Firm Interactions
• Knowledge Complexity
• Innovation Networks
• Innovation and Regional Policies
• Smart Specialization Policies and Smart Cities
• Place-Based Innovation Ecosystems: Clusters, Incubators and Technological Parks

The applicant must submit an extended abstract of their research in English, Portuguese or Spanish (maximum of 10000 characters) before August 27th, 2020. A full version of the selected papers must be submitted before September 27 , 2010. Selection will be based on clarity, relevance and
