YSI Workshop on “Knowledge, Innovation and Regional Development”
The YSI Urban and Regional Economics Working Group, in partnership with the Department of Economics of the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil) is glad to announce its I Workshop on "Knowledge, Innovation and Regional Development". The workshop is going to be held as a side-event with the VIII Seminar on Development and Policy (Seminário de Desenvolvimento e Políticas Públicas) in October 26-27, 2020.
Due to the Pandemics, the in-person activity was cancelled and the workshop will be held as an online event. Then, the submission deadline was postponed for August 27 (see more details above).
The general purpose of the event is to discuss Knowledge-Based Regional Policies focused on structural change and local economic development in Latin American context. Thus, the workshop aims to bring high quality young scholars to present their research on Economics of Innovation and Regional Development, Geography of Innovation or Regional Innovation Systems. We are particularly interested in the following topics:
• Universities and Regional Development
• University-Firm Interactions
• Knowledge Complexity
• Innovation Networks
• Innovation and Regional Policies
• Smart Specialization Policies and Smart Cities
• Place-Based Innovation Ecosystems: Clusters, Incubators and Technological Parks
The applicant must submit an extended abstract of their research in English, Portuguese or Spanish (maximum of 10000 characters) before August 27th, 2020. A full version of the selected papers must be submitted before September 27 , 2010. Selection will be based on clarity, relevance and

Opportunity: Selected papers are elegible to be invited to be published in Special Issues of the Revista de Desenvolvimento e Políticas Públicas and the Revista Debate Econômico, given its respective editorial criteria. The submission to the workshop does not imply any compromise of publication in these journals.

Workshop para Jovens Pesquisadores sobre "Conhecimento, Inovação e Desenvolvimento Regional"
O Grupo de Trabalho sobre Economia Regional e Urbana do Young Scholars Initiative, Institute for New Economic Thinking (YSI/INET), em parceria com o Departamento de Economia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Brasil) tem a satisfação de anunciar o seu I Workshop sobre "Conhecimento,Inovação e Desenvolvimento Regional". O workshop irá acontecer em paralelo com o VIII Seminário de Desenvolvimento e Políticas Públicas em 26 e 27 de outubro de 2019.
Em função da Pandemia, as atividades presenciais foram canceladas e o evento irá acontecer online. Por isso, o prazo de submissão foi prorrogado para 27 de agosto (veja mais detalhes abaixo)
A proposta geral do evento é discutir Polítcas Regionais baseadas em Conhecimento, com foco em mudança estrutural e desenvolvimento local no contexto Latino-americano . Assim, o workshop busca reunir jovens pesquisadores para apresentar suas pesquisas relacionadas a Economia da Inovação e Desenvolvimento Regional, Geografia da Inovação e Sistemas Regionais de Inovação. Estamos particularmente interessados nos tópicos a seguir:
• Universidade e Desenvolvimento Regional;
• Interação Universidade-Empresa;
• Economia da Complexidade;
• Redes de Inovação;
• Políticas Regionais e Inovação;
• Estratégias de Especialização Inteligente e Smart Cities;
• Aspectos locais dos Ecossistemas de Inovação: Clusters, Incubadoras e Parques Tecnológicos.
Os interessados devem submeter um resumo expandido de sua pesquisa em inglês, português ou espanhol (máximo de 10000 caracteres) até 27 de Agosto de 2020. Uma versão completa dos trabalhos selecionados deve ser submetida até 27 de Setembro de 2020. A seleção será baseada na clareza, relevância e originalidade dos resumos, ressaltando a questão de pesquisa, metodologia e resultados (ainda que preliminares).
Oportunidade: Os atigos aprovados poderão ser convidados a ser publicados em Edições Especiais da Revista de Desenvolvimento e Políticas Públicas e da Revista Debate Econômico, de acordo com critérios estabelecidos pelos respectivos conselhos editoriais.
