After being narrowed in their scope and delayed in their implementation, new rules surrounding initial margin (“IM”) in uncleared OTC transactions – the “UMR Rules” – have been slowly coming into force. In this webinar, lawyer Poseidon Retsinas will describe the legal mechanics of UMR and the significance of these rules for the financial industry. While this webinar will not be heavily theoretical, the hosts believe that UMR offers an interesting case study for understanding global liquidity and the legal structures that shape it while offering a chance to understand how dealer systems function in practice.
Poseidon Retsinas is the Founder and CEO is HedgeLegal Inc, a law firm based in Montreal that specializes in the negotiation of trading documentation for hedge funds and other buy-side financial institutions. Prior to starting HedgeLegal in 2019, Poseidon was responsible for trading documentation at one of the world's largest hedge fund managed account platforms and was an associate at Clifford Chance where he specialized in derivatives. Poseidon obtained his law degree from McGill University and holds a Master’s degree in Law and Accounting from the London School of Economics. Poseidon’s articles have been published in the Hedge Fund Law Report, Hedgeweek, and HFM Week. He is a frequent speaker on industry panels. The webinar will be moderated by Andrew Medeiros.
