Description

The YSI Latin America Working Group happily announces a special session to be held during the 2nd Unicamp International School on Development Challenges – Different Dimension of Inequality.

We invite students of the 1st Unicamp International School on Development Challenges to submit their work (paper or thesis chapter – work in progress are allowed) to present in our special session. Selected participants will have the opportunity to present and get feedback from a senior mentor in the area.

The outbreak of the COVID pandemic has aggravated the social divergences in our society and has brought negative effects on many dimensions of inequality, such as regional, social, gender, racial, etc. In addition, the difficulty in dealing with the supply and demand shocks of the COVID pandemic appeared to impact the countries differently depending on their economic structures. In this context, the economic productive and inequality dimensions are very interlinked. Therefore, economic policy and research in the area of economic development that deals pragmatically with those issues are of vital importance.

In a similar vein of The Institute of Economics at Unicamp that has a long tradition of discussing development issues centered at reducing inequalities, our special session welcomes articles and chapter thesis that broadly fall within the following topics:

● Economic structure, development and inequality
● Gender and Race inequality
● Regional inequality
● Conflict Inflation, personal and functional income distribution.
● The political economy of inequality
● Impacts of the COVID pandemic on inequality.
