Description
The Winter Workshop on Complex Systems (WWCS) is a one-week immersive experience for young researchers worldwide to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects centered around complex systems. This 10th edition will be held from January 26th to 31st, 2025, at the Rifugio Madonna delle Nevi in Lombardy, Italy, continuing the tradition of past workshops in iconic locations like Amsterdam, Madrid, and Brussels.
The workshop’s primary focus is for participants to develop novel research projects within a dynamic, supportive environment. The format includes:
- Keynote Talks: Insightful lectures from leading experts in complex systems (speakers to be announced).
- Tutorials: Participants can propose and lead tutorials on relevant methodologies and topics.
- Collaborative Projects: Attendees will form groups, define research questions, and present their (partial) findings at the end of the week.
- Social Activities: These include a group event in Bergamo or Verona, a mountain hike to explore the local landscape, a guided city tour, and evening games to foster camaraderie.
Applicants will have the chance to secure travel funding from YSI (Young Scholars Initiative), which will also host dedicated sessions throughout the week. YSI will present its work, offer sessions for stipend holders to showcase their research, and facilitate a team-building exercise to strengthen connections within the YSI community.
Join us for a week of exploration, learning, and collaboration! For more details, visit wwcs2025.github.io.
