Description

High profile cases like the remunicipalisation of water delivery in Paris and Berlin have moved the perception of the phenomenon away from a mere question of market management processes towards a much broader object of research, embedded in an extended institutional, geographical and political context. New scholarly interest in remunicipalisation resulted in a comprehensive survey on the underlying processes of a vast number of case studies. Yet an array of methods, such as different qualitative, quantitative and industry based approaches, play an important role in better understanding the general evolution and drivers of remunicipalisation.

This workshop on remunicipalisation aims to bring together scholars active in this area to discuss cutting-edge work and to exchange knowledge on research strategies that will benefit academia, practitioners and citizens alike. Attendant to this aim is to inspire and encourage a new generation of scholars working on remunicipalisation issues. To this end, the Young Scholars Initiative will support the participation of selected young researchers. Workshop participants will gain state-of-the-art insights on how to design research on remunicipalisation as well as valuable feedback on poster presentations by peers and experienced mentors.

The workshop features a talk by Prof. Mildred E. Warner (Cornell University) and Dr. Emanuele Lobina (Greenwich University) on how to design research on remunicipalisation issues. Following this, two selected young scholars have the opportunity to present their research in 7 minutes flash presentations to peers and our mentors.
