Description

The purpose of the Scholas Cátedras Congress (access the congress website here) is to bring together teachers and researchers from the universities participating in the Scholas Chairs Program, and personalities from the religious world, culture, the third sector, social movements, business, trade associations, diplomats, government officials and all those interested in being part of an opportunity for cooperation and learning around education as a primary instrument for social change. In particular, it adheres to Pope Francis' invitation to renew and relaunch university institutions towards a model committed to the anthropological and socio-environmental crisis in a "going out" process, beyond the walls of higher education institutions.

Objectives

Reflect on the contribution that Scholas Chairs can make to inhabit a renewed university model capable of:

  • Responding to the personal and interpersonal needs of students.
  • Listening to young people, fostering creative autonomy, and celebrating their creations.
  • Fostering a fraternal coexistence atmosphere that understands diversity as a factor that enriches.
  • Unifying teaching, research, and outreach in commitment to local and global reality.
  • Leading research and transformation processes for technological and social innovation.

The Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), in partnership with Scholas, is proposing a preliminary workshop to explore the shared values that drive both YSI and Scholas Ocurrentes, through the lens of Regenerative Economics, a concept proposed by John Fullerton. This workshop will serve as a platform for engaging in dialogue and proposing new synergies between the two initiatives,
