YSI @ WAPLAC Workshop 3

Instructions for Applicants Applications are open to graduate students and early-career researchers whose work relates to the themes of the WAPLAC Workshop 3 and the YSI Inequality and Latin America Working Groups. When completing the YSI application form, please upload or paste the same abstract submitted to WAPLAC. This will allow the WAPLAC and YSI teams to coordinate the selection process and ensure a strong thematic fit for the session. To apply for the YSI session and funding, please complete the application form and provide: - The title of your paper; - The same abstract submitted to WAPLAC; - A short biography, including your institutional affiliation and current career stage; - A brief motivation statement explaining why you would like to participate in the YSI session and how your work relates to the activities of the Inequality and/or Latin America Working Groups; - Information about your expected travel costs and whether you have access to other sources of funding; - Confirmation that you are a registered YSI member, preferably affiliated with the Inequality Working Group, the Latin America Working Group, or both. Selected participants will be invited to present their work at the WAPLAC Workshop 3 in Mexico City on 20–21 October 2026. YSI expects to provide selected participants with: - Shared accommodation for the official dates of the event; and - A travel stipend of approximately USD 250, subject to final confirmation and YSI reimbursement requirements. As funding is limited, applicants should provide a realistic estimate of their travel costs and indicate whether they can access any complementary institutional or personal funding. Selection for YSI support will consider the quality and relevance of the proposed contribution, financial need, regional and disciplinary diversity, and the applicant’s current or potential engagement with the YSI community. Selected participants will be expected to attend the full YSI session, participate actively in the wider WAPLAC programme, and contribute to a short post-conference activity, such as a blog post, event reflection, or online follow-up discussion. Please note that applying for YSI support does not automatically guarantee funding. Applicants should not make non-refundable travel arrangements until they have received formal confirmation of their selection and funding conditions.
